Phi Mu is very popular at LSU, but NOT at Arkansas and they even lost their chapter at UA bc they couldn't maintain their numbers. The words youll often hear about DGs are nice, social butterflies, and good girls. Their good girl reputation means they typically dont tolerate mean girl cattiness. Whatever you read here should probably be ignored. Girls who pledge with Delta Gamma are usually very happy when accepted into the fold. You have nothing to loose, and you'll never know if you could absolutely love it until you try it!! I can agree it has to be an objective sort, of survey that produces such varied results, but as there many kinds of, people, there must be many kinds of "groups" to belong to. DG and Chi O are top of the middle tier with Phi Mu, and Kappa at the bottom. My roommate, whose dad owns half the state, went Pi Phi. Surely different schools will have different stereotypes for what each sorority is like based on the local population. Wrong on so many levels. Out of the blue last week my son told us that he was accepted off the waitlist and that TCU was now his first choice. Sure, being a freshman gives you a better chance because you will be a 4-year member, but at the same time, sometimes the older girls that join halfway through college end up being stronger members for the short time they are there, and it also sets you apart from all the freshmen who are rushing because you are different! I never felt compelled to join myself, but you are right, those that do good charity work should be admired. Your class is beautiful but that isnt what is most important to some chapters. They may not talk to you, because they are not suppose to, but they are watching YOUR behavior.

They have a reputation for accepting those who were rejected by top-tier sororities and that they are a backup option for many. They are kind notorious for being, um, generous. And the real beauty of the system is that during the "rush" period, EVERYONE, is doing their best to impress. They don't tend to be as social as other sororities and can sometimes seem invisible compared to more visible sororities. Zeta Tau Alpha tends to be far more popular in the South than elsewhere in the country. When you live with someone and work so closely with that person and others, the friendships become important. They actually drop out of recruitment than pledge a bottom tier sorority, like kappa Kappa Gamma or DZ. Each chapter differs from each campus, and obviously you didnt take that into consideration. AXO gives COBs and spring bigs. Chi-Os and Kappa Alpha Thetas are top tier sororities at our school. I really am hopeful that there is such thing as a classy sorority, but I'm losing hope. Recruitment may officially start in August, but the active members of the sororities have been behind the scenes recruiting since the winter and some incoming freshmen have been recruitment targets for years. The consensus, if there is one, is that Chi Omega is respected but not necessarily exalted among sororities. Neither one is the "sorority type". Terrible physical house.
